Samantha Andrews: International Traveler, Dancer, & Comedienne

For Samantha Andrews, (also called "Sam") acting is a dream-fulfilled. She's dabbled in singing, dancing, and acting since she was in the 5th grade. She began focusing on performing ever since seeing A Chorus Line on Broadway when she was a little girl. But her family moved overseas and she saw different parts of the world with her father travelling for work. From Ireland, to England, to Germany, Europe was her playground. Once she moved back stateside, she started her theatre journey by attending UVA. She then transferred to Syracuse University and got her BFA in musical theatre from the school's conservatory program, on top of graduating cum laude. But, her journey was just beginning.

Upon graduating, she hit the pavement running in the Big Apple. Once she booked her first gig on Holland America Cruise Lines, she traveled once again performing throughout the Caribbean, Panama Canal, and Alaska. She was a shuffleboard instructor by day, and stage performer at night for over 6 months. Next came television, where she worked in small rolesand shared the stage with beloved performers including Elaine Stritch on the soap opera One Life to Live.

Andrew's journey then brings her to the beautiful city of Charleston, South Carolina. Since gracing us with her wonderful presence, she's been seen on stage at Threshold, Dock Street, Footlight, Woolfe Street, What If? Productions, and other theaters. Despite her extensive repertoire, this is her first time working with Actor's Theatre of SC. What she likes most about her character in The Dayporch is her strength and resilience. Andrews comments that "Sara, the nurse, built this wall around her because of the tragedies she endured, yet she's still able to be vulnerable".

Now by day, Andrews works at Croghan's Jewelery Box, and has collected quite the extensive collection. She longs to own at least one dog, and she loves spending time with her family, especially her nieces. Despite the hectic life she leads, she feels extremely grounded in the performing world and cherishes the friendships she's made. Those friendships are what inspire her to do better. And that's exactly what she's done with us! We are eager to see where she takes her character throughout The Dayporch, and we hope you'll join us to find out...
